Imagine an entire legion of Imperial troops at your service!
Founded in 1997 by Albin Johnson, the 501st Legion has grown to over 12,000 active members worldwide. Every year, the members of the 501st Legion donate their time and energy to “troop” for charities such as Toys for Tots, the Make-a-Wish foundation, The American Cancer Society, and numerous others. As stated in the 501st Legion Charter, “…The Legion is an all-volunteer organization formed for the express purpose of bringing together costume enthusiasts under a collective identity within which to operate. The Legion seeks to promote interest in Star Wars through the building and wearing of quality costumes, and to facilitate the use of these costumes for Star Wars-related events as well as contributions to the local community through costumed charity and volunteer work…”
501st members strive for screen quality in their costumes. We want to give the illusion that we stepped right off the screen. Not only is it a fun hobby, it’s a rewarding hobby, utilizing our costumes to give back to the community. If you’re interested in joining, choose “Join Us” from the menu above, or visit www.501st.com.
Locally, members of the 501st have been trooping in Idaho and Montana since fall 2004. In 2005, Southeast Idaho members formed the Mustafar Squad (then of the Alpine Garrison). In 2010, 501st members in Idaho and Montana branched off from the Alpine Garrison and formed the Timberline Garrison. We’ve continued to grow in both Idaho and Montana, appearing at an average of 2-3 events per month.
